The vulture - at least conceptually - is an old favorite of mine from childhood. What kid doesn't love the idea that you could build a harness and be able to fly giddily flapping around the world like you just don't care about anything.
The original Vulture was anything but a person who had a happy childhood it would seem. Inventor, genius, yes. But also a bitter and vengeful old man. I suppose my gut reaction as an adult to the classic vulture is at worst revulsion and at best humorous.
To a casual observer the original vulture appears to be a reject from a Julie Taymor inspired musical about grumpy old men. HARSH! But I still love the concept - a man who's life's work was stolen from him uses his genius and skills to create the means of his revenge - now THAT"S a Vulture I would love to see made real.
